TTC#5: Fairy Tales + Add your Own Twist

Hi Everyone,

We are just overwhelmed with the number of entries for our last challenge and with each passing challenge and all the enthusiasm we get to see from all of you we are truly motivated to come up with interesting prompts/topics for our Challenges.

We are here today with our 5th Challenge and as always, ours is an "Any Project + Monthly Theme". (i.e. any kind of project cards, mixed media, art journal but it has to include the monthly theme)

This month's challenge is
"Fairy Tales +Add your Own Twist"

To explain the theme further:  The project has to be related to any of the existing fairy tales or their premises and keeping the core/main premise of the story, you can add an element or twist the story a bit.

To create an instant connect to your project, keep one element from the main story as it is- it could be the gown colour of the fairy tale princess or a prop in the main story like the long hair of Rapunzel. Having done this you can add your own twist to the story, like most fairy tales are about the prince saving the princess. You could have any of the fairy tales as your subject and have the princess save the prince.

The Twisted Challenge Team and our Guest Designer Disha Jain are here with some stunning inspirations for you.

Here are the inspirations for this Challenge:
Our TTC#3 winner Disha Jain has a beautiful card with a beautiful message -Daughters are the angels sent by the God in all of our lives.

Dr. Neha Sanwalka has tried to break the myth of waiting for a fairy tale to shape your life.

Tejal Mehta-Shah has brought a fun filled twist to the conventional thought of a Princess Charming and given it a modern angle.

Saumya Mohanty has tried to vocalise the topic of 'Beauty' and 'Princess' equals to 'Fair Skin' and by portraying the existing Fairy Tales princess in all skin tones she intends to break that myth/false belief.

Do visit our designers' blogs (by clicking on names below each project picture) for full details of their inspiration and take a moment to leave them a comment to let them know that you love their projects.

Some Quick Rules:
  • Enter only new projects.
  • You can enter a maximum of 3 projects.
  • You can use digital images but completely digitally created projects are not allowed. Your project should be handmade.
  • Please link your project using the linky tool at the bottom of the challenge post using URL of the Actual Blog Post and not your entire blog.
  • People with no blogs can also participate but please ensure that you link your Facebook or Instagram post showcasing the related project below using the Linky tool. Projects not entered using Linky tool will not be considered.
  • Please link back to "The Twisted Challenges" blog to be eligible for the prize.
  • Last date to submit your entry is 31st October 2018, before midnight IST.
Please do read "CHALLENGE RULES & INFORMATION" for more details.
We will draw 1 winner and 3 top picks on 3rd November. The winner would be invited to Guest Design for December 2018  challenge and win an amazing gift from our generous sponsors Mudra
 Our Sponsor for October 2018

Hoping to see some lovely creations from all of you.

Mid month Inspiration TTC#4 - Tejal

Hello Everyone,

Tejal here today and welcome to my mid month Inspiration post.

We are loving your entries for this challenge. And I am enjoying this challenge so much that I couldn't stop at one card. Yep, I again made two cards to share with you today!

My reason for sharing two cards is to showcase two different ways to create a monochromatic layering.
If you go back and check my inspiration for the Challenge post, I made two cards using Distress oxides and heat embossing the stamped design.

Today I am showing you two more ways on how to create monochrome effect using dies, embossing folders, colored cardstock and patterned paper.

Lets dive in..

So the first card I am sharing uses embossing folder and dies.
I embossed the purple cardstock and matted it to my card base. Using spellbinder dies and coordinating stamps, I created the center sentiment panel. And of course i had to add some pretty butterflies.
All the stamping was done with distress oxide ink, Wilted violet.

The second card uses only patterned paper and cardstock to create layers for the card.

I layered yellow cardstock with striped and polka dot pattern paper.
Stamped and colored a cupcake with my copics and created a frame with white cardstock to pop up the cupcake.

Well, there you go. Easy ways to create Monochrome cards for our ongoing Challenge. I do hope you are inspired and I have given you more ideas for you to  join the challenge!

Don't forget to check out our Challenge post , as well as inspirations from the TTC team.

Till we meet again,
Tejal

Min Month Inspiration #TTC4

Hi Friends,

This is Dr. Neha here with a mid-month inspiration for this month's challenge "Celebration + Monochrome". No celebration is complete without sweets, so lets celebrate with a piece of cake.

I printed a digital stamp from Yampuff on a 160 gsm paper and colored it using Creta Color pencils in shades of purple. I fussy the image and adhered it on Little Birdie Mixed Media Journal and finished it by adding a sentiment.

I hope you liked this simple and fun art journal page and are inspired to join our "Celebrations + Monochrome" challenge. Last date to enter is 30th September.

Love,
Dr. Neha Sanwalka Rungta
